What is the TRDP?

The Thurrock Residential Developers’ Partnership is a collective group of housebuilders, residential developers and landowners. It was established in 2022 to elevate Thurrock as an enterprising location for jobs and homes. Our purpose is to promote the potential for significant economic growth, enhanced infrastructure and placemaking within the borough, facilitated and underpinned by the need to build new high quality, environmentally sustainable homes and communities.

 

The Partnership also works with public and private sector partners in Thurrock to understand and establish an evidence base for how housing growth will help tackle some of the borough's key strategic challenges including:

 

• The shortage of housing of all types and tenures, but particularly social and affordable homes.

• Being able to attract sufficiently skilled workers into the borough in key sectors like education and healthcare.

• Improving local air quality and traffic congestion by reducing the need for high volumes of workers to commute into the borough in key growth industries like the ports.

• Eliminating the need for too many existing residents to live in low-quality and over-crowded homes.

 

We believe that our approach to partnership working, not just within the development community, but with other sectors is unique. Stakeholders, residents and developers stand to gain mutual benefits from this strategic focus on the long-term future of the borough rather than the pursuit of narrow interests.

 

As a collective, the Partnership does not promote, discuss with partners, or seek to influence decisions on any specific sites that may be considered for development in Thurrock. Our purpose is to be a forum for advancing the wider economic and social benefits that essential housing growth in the borough will bring, and how it will ensure a thriving future for Thurrock and its residents.
